Be a Community Leader!
Want to get more involved in ExchangesConnect? Apply to be a volunteer Community Leader!
What is a Community Leader?
Community Leaders play one or more of these three important roles on ExchangesConnect:
- Country Group Leader: Country Group Leaders monitor and spark conversation in a specific country group. These leaders have a passion for their chosen countries and they want to share practical tips about this culture with others.
- Exchange Program Group Leader: Exchange Program Group Leaders are former exchange program participants (“alumni”) who want to share their wisdom and help guide potential and current program participants through the process.
- Special Interest Group Leader: Special Interest Program Group Leaders have a positive attitude and enthusiasm for ExchangesConnect. They are able to guide members in meaningful conversations in groups for special topics.
What are the Program Benefits?
- Resume-building volunteer position: By volunteering your time as a Community Leader on ExchangesConnect, you are working with the Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs in the U.S. Department of State to help to build international mutual understanding…without having to leave your computer! How’s that for a good feeling?
- Satisfaction of helping others: Community Leaders are among the most dedicated members of ExchangesConnect, with generous spirits and a strong interest in international exchange and cross-cultural understanding. They play an important role in the growth and success of ExchangesConnect and in helping other members reach their goals.
- Cool ExchangesConnect gear: Community Leaders will receive a custom profile badge, an ExchangesConnect certificate, and will have access to the invitation-only Community Leaders group where they meet and network with fellow Community Leaders.
