My program was a Youth Leadership Program,a program of the Office of Citizenship Exchanges and Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs,U S Department of State.The program aimed to develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills and it also had these goals;
*to explore the youth dimensions of economics,government and business
*to examine the role of the individual in society and broaden the understanding of identity and inter-ethnic tolerance and understandig.
*to provide participants with opportunities to interact with American teenagers and share information about themselves and Turkish culture.
*to prepare participants with new skills and tools for application of projects in home communities.
All the participants had wonderful experience in the concepts of youth leadership at the community level.We also learned to assess the needs in our community and how to work with local leaders to create effective solutions.The CYM Staff led an interactive session on how to create effective solutions with an action plan.In my school I have been doing projects on Youth Innovations and Leadership with the help of the US Embassy Ankara and my students have been actively taking part in leadership projects and making a difference in their community.They now become an effective voice in their community.I really appreciate Exchange Programs which help youth develop skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Hi, I am Kamran and i am currently an exchange student in the States. From my perspective exchange experiences are really great and helpful. USA is a land of opportunities. People are interested in knowing from exchange students about their respective countries. Yes liberty mentioned is absolutely true. It is the best way to learn a new culture by being a exchange student.
America - to me was a dream and still is !! Its a multi-cultural land with freedom of choice and individuality. Living in Texas was amazing, I miss and cherish everything about it. US is my favorite *.*
