I'm sure this information must be somewhere, but I haven't found it. Can someone tell me how many applicants there are for the year in China NSLI-Y? How many scholarships are awarded for the year in China? People keep asking this, and I don't know the answer.

Hi Donavon, thanks for your question. If you are looking for resources and other great opportunities for building on what you learned during your NSLI-Y experience, International Exchange Alumni is a great website to check out. Here is more information and how to register if you have not already: https://alumni.state.gov/about-international-exchange-alumni.

if we are NSLI-Y alumni do we get free rosetta stone?

Hi! I have some questions regarding the interview.  The main one would be should I bring anything? For example pictures, a portfolio, or awards? Thank you so much for any answers at all!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to post a reminder about the unofficial NSLI-Y applicant Facebook group. There are 700 or so of us over there, including alumni of pretty much every program happy to answer questions. We'd love to talk to you! :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/nsliyapplicants/

Department of State Pathways Internship recruiting is underway!

The Department’s Pathways Internship Program has two components to allow for flexible recruitment:  the Internship Experience Program (IEP) and the Internship Temporary Experience Program (ITEP).

The Internship Experience Program (IEP) allows for non-temporary appointments without a not-to-exceed date. The appointment is expected to last the length of the academic program for which the intern is enrolled, with the ability to extend for 120 days to allow for noncompetitive conversion into the competitive service. IEP participants, while in the program, are eligible for noncompetitive promotions. Announcement:  click here.

The Internship Temporary Experience Program (ITEP) places interns on temporary appointments not to exceed one year, with the possibility of extensions in one-year increments. The temporary nature of ITEP allows for interns to work during seasonal and holiday breaks in academic programs. After successful program completion, ITEP participants are eligible for noncompetitive conversions into the competitive service. Announcement:  click here.

Hi Maria, NSLI-Y is still in the process of sending out semi-finalist notifications. If you have not received a notification email from NSLI-Y by December 21, please email nsliy@americancouncils.org or call (866) 790-2086. Thank you for your patience.
