Hey! So I am applying for the India summer trip and I was wondering who is too! Or if you have already gone to India, if you had any tips or stories to share about the experience. I'd be happy to hear about anything!

Hey there! I went to Delhi this past summer and would love to give you any advice! Do you have any specific questions? I had an absolutely amaazing time! All the people that I met were so welcoming and embraced me as one of their own, and that was definitely a highlight of my time. I ate amazing food too! Learning hindi was fun, difficult at some points, but I can now so I am truly passionate! Feel free to ask me questions on my page or join the facebook group for NSLI-Y Summer India 2010! Good luck!! :)
Thank you! I really hope I get in, I am constantly thinking about it! I have a lot of questions, but I was just wondering what a typical day was like and what were some things you did in India?
Great question! Monday through Friday I went to a school, the school that all our host siblings went to, called Amity International. It is a regular Indian school, but we had our own class with teachers and spent the day working on Hindi or doing activities like yoga, sculpture, art, ect. We got home around 3 depending on how far you lived, and for the rest of the day I got to spend time with my family. On the weekends we either had time with our family or we had a group activity/orientation. When I was with my family, we ate (a lot!) and went shopping. We went to markets or malls and saw a couple movies. We went out to a couple restaurants, too. Basically they tried to give me a sample of their live in the short time we had. Anything else you would like to know?

I have another question.I don't know if you would know this, but what do you think are the chances of getting in to the NSLI-Y program to India? Is it pretty competitive? I've noticed, at least from the discussion boards that the popular travels are to Turkey and Korea and so on. Also, what was one of your favorite parts of the India trip?

Hi, this is kind of a weird question, but I'm looking into applying to NSLI-Y for India for 2012 if they have it (I was a semi-finalist last year). I'm a really really really dedicated athlete (a runner) and I have to run about 7 miles a day 6 days a week during the summer. So, I was wondering if there was a chance/anywhere that I could actually run when you went. thanks!!

I am! its my first choice :)

haha, the only thing i'm worried about is the spicy food!
haha, yeah don't worry, I am too. but I do love Indian food! I'm worried about not getting in, I wonder what the chances are?
its around 30% chances to get into the program, I'm not sure what it is specifically for India though. I'm worried too, but hopefully we'll get lucky
Haha spicy food! Don't worry, they make sure that it isn't too spicy and if it is, they have curd (liek yogurt) to make it better! :)
Hi!! I am also applying for India as my third choice!! I'm pretty nervous. Have you finished your application yet??
no, I haven't had a lot of time:( But I'm going to definitely finish it soon! What is your first choice?
First choice Korea, Second choice China
