Happy Mothers Day to all. I did't quite remember it because I've been down with Fever, but feeling much better. Miss you lots....

Yes! before about one month, my mother visited the bride and her family, and she told my brother that she liked her, and she suits the characterizations he wants, then my mother called the bride's family to visit them again, after that we asked for the bride's Skype username to make calls with my brother as he was in UAE, and to see that if they accept each other.

After the made many calls through the internet, my brother decided to come to Jordan and to see her face-to-face, after that they both decided to get engaged to each other! that's the story.

And today, they went to the court to register their marriage contract, after that they went to buy golds for the bride, and on the evening, the bride's family are coming to have dinner with us.

Hi Basel - How did your brother choose his fiancée, did your parents visits the girl and her family first? i remember what you wrote about marriage when you first joined the group!!

tell your grandma Naseeba that she is just a youngster, 3 months younger than I am, and that i send her greetings, and blessings!

I think we follow Britain in such days, because basically Arab culture (civilization) has recently known these days, like Mothers day, Workers day, Earth day, etc.., because of the openness and Technology, also Islam forbids any day to celebrate except the two Eids, it forbids Mothers day and Workers day, WHY?

Because Islam respects mothers, and it doesn't celebrate and honor them only on one day in the year, it honors them everyday and every second, so the goal is that we must always honor our mothers and celebrate them not only on one day, and I love that wisdom.

I really hope that you can come here and see you!

My grandma is doing well and sends you warm greetings, too. Her name is "Naseeba". I think her birthday is on November 15th, 1942. Maybe that birthday is not accurate, (I mean the month and day), because at that time they we're not caring very much about blogging dates and birthdays.

Currently we're celebrating my brother's ENGAGEMENT! He has recently come from the Untied Arab Emirates where her works to find out his life partner, and soon he will make the party!

In the UK it is in March also, maybe yours is the same day as theirs?

I will bring you mango when I come to see you, Basel, from our OWN trees!!!

And how is your grandma - from what I know of your family (in Jordan!) she has had a difficult life, is she doing OK now? Please give her my greetings! My birthday is August 13, when is hers?

Comment by Basel Abu Asal on Sunday

It was Mother's day here on March 21, it's the first time I know that Mother's differentiates from one nation to another, and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to you Auntie, I wish you a long life full of love and give, you're as old as my grandma! She will get 70 in November!

I really missed Martha, send her greetings and wishing of high marks in her examinations of her university! What a great idea she works on with her fellows, that really rocks and benefits her society.

I love Mango! I wish you can send me some pieces. Unfortunately, Mango can't be planted in Jordan because the environment is not suitable for it here.

PS - Who wants to make a compost pile like I did? Try this!!

Comment by Joan Bouchard deCallejas Juanita on Sunday

Hi "green" groupies - I spent the AM of Mother's Day doing something I have wanted to do for a while, I made a compost pile. If that is a new word for some of you, it is a place you put organic waste to decompose to make good new soil for planting new seeds, or adding to your garden. We have 2 BIG mango trees in our yard, and when there is a storm small green ones fall off the trees in the wind and then decay - so I raked them all up, added some sandy soil, and wet it down (then we had a great thundershower and God added more water!,) so now it is done! When Martha and i went to Earth University in Costa Rica 2 years ago, we saw the agriculture students making  5-6 different types of compost, depending on what plants it was designed to fertilize - nothing that fancy here, but we will add coffee grounds, banana peels, the skin of mangos, etc, whatever organic waste we have! All you need is some dirt and some fruit peels or coffee grounds, it does not cost a thing, and it will be useful in your garden!! Happy Mother's Day, Mother Earth!

Love, Auntie XXOO

I saw Martha yesterday, she sends her love to everyone! Her exams will be over next Friday 5.18, she will be back on line after that. she and a dozen classmates from different departments of study (law, medicine, engineering) have become a group to support women in her university (the FIRST one in any university in Honduras!!) - they have designed special t-shirts to wear to classes, to attract other feminist members, and now they are deciding on their first issue - it is reproductive freedom, that a woman has the right to choose whether or not to bear a child. i am VERY proud of her.

She sends greetings to everyone, and she says that Basel would be a very good leader, and that saadatu should apply too, she has that "mothering" instinct that would be very supportive to us (sorry, Basel, she did not think you are the "mothering" type, wrong gender!!) love, Auntie XXOO
