Hello Dr. Corazon V. Balarbar. That is wonderful that you are continuing to help instruction in deaf education. I would love to hear more about your experiences at Gallaudet University. Had you ever worked with deaf students before attending Gallaudet? What got you interested in this program? What are your suggestions of how to improve instruction for deaf students in reading and writing? Please share your thoughts.

Hi Kyle,

Yes, I got interested in the Deaf and worked with them although I did not really get the chance to teach them.  I observed their classes and did some research on methods of teaching them English.  I had an enjoyable learning experience at Gallaudet U interacting and observing their classes in the English Language Institute.  My dissertation was on teaching the Deaf and I found a lot of similarities between the methods pf teaching them and the Hearing.  I also made friends with some of the students and teachers at Gallaudet.  I will forever treasure the times I spent with them.

That is very interesting. What were some of the similarities you noticed? Were you at all surprised by the similarities between the two groups? Were there any major differences? Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
