Today, in honor of Ghana’s 55th Independence Day, I encourage you to think about what “independence” means to you. When is Afghanistan’s Independence Day? How do you celebrate? What effect has independence had on your country, if any? Let us know in the new discussion going on, titled “Independence Days Around the World”!

Hello!

I'm new to the group, and I have students who would like to know more about Afghanistan, perhaps by talking to other students at schools in Afghanistan.  Would there be an interest in connecting schools online?

Hey everyone,

So I answered Mehdi and Asrarullahilham on their profiles, but I thought I'd share this advice with other Afghani students who are looking for exchange programs to the USA.  The program websites don't always list all the countries on the first page, so don't hesitate to get in touch with someone and ask more directly via email.  You can also try getting in touch with the EducationUSA officer for Afghnistan to see if he can guide you any further.  If anyone gets in touch - please post here what happens!  It could be a very good resource to help other students start an exchange program.

Good luck!

Can you write a poem about Afghanistan in less than 140 characters? For World Poetry Day, we posted a new discussion challenging you to write a short poem about your country or exchange program. Please participate if you can! http://connect.state.gov/forum/topics/challenge-poetry-in-140
